Introducing: 21st Century Pamphleteer
As with the pursuit of great ideas, sex, or giving yourself a haircut, senses of adventure, curiosity, and humor are in order here.
I’m not a blogger. I don’t write a newsletter.
I…am a pamphleteer.
Of course, pamphlets have come a long way in the past several hundred years. While I no longer need a printing press and reams of paper, I do still need vim and vigor. Moxie and fortitude. A poke-the-bear and can-do attitude!
Which is to say: pamphlets and pamphleteers historically connote the kind of mischief I want to get up to.
If you’ve followed me online or in person, you’re aware that I have high expectations for my own life, and the lives that intersect with it. I believe that we’re all capable of much more than we suspect, and that the world can often permit the full exercise of our faculties if we come at it just right. Sometimes that’s head-on, sometimes a sneak attack from behind, and sometimes we cleva-guhl in from the side.
In any case, I’m writing about how to do that exactly. After registering for Substack a while ago, I’m finally prepared with a series of projects and ideas to explore regularly, with all of you reading this. I’ll be posting an essay (or something) once a week until the end of 2021, at which point I’ll see how things are going.
Most domains of human endeavor are fair game, including science and technology, philosophy, government, gay and LGBT culture, music, fitness, and more.
I've consolidated some writing from elsewhere and written several new essays for this launch, and you can find them below. I look forward to hearing from you, or meeting you on Twitter.
